Folder Redirection Broken Out Of The Blue Windows. There's no odd routing between the client and datacenter firewalls, so the packets are entirely at the mercy of the internet and headed out one way and we have no control over the paths taken.Īudiojim They're on SonicOS Enhanced 6.2.7.1-23n. The bottleneck is at the client site (10 Mbps upload from client, 100 Mbps download at datacenter), but the math shows that it should be sufficient for getting the files offsite in a reasonable amount of time. It also needs to continue performing other processing functions on the images and the receiving site also processes the backup images, so having to figure out a way to zip of the files, transfer them and unzip them at the second site is not an option. The backup images are already compressed and we wouldn't be able to apply further third-party compression anyway since ImageManager only replicates backup images and not other types of files. I'll check if I can increase the verbosity of the Filezilla server however. I do not suspect this software as faulty because we use it at many other clients with the same setup and no issues. The actual FTP client is StorageCraft's ImageManager software, which is needed in order to properly manage the backup images and it also can handle the FTP replciation (or many other types of replication also). Jim Peters I'm actually only running Filezilla on the server side. is tripping some kind of threat threshold for a long running transfer or some kind of content it believes might be in the data stream. My suspecting the firewall due to intermittent issues has less in my opinion to do with the rules themselves (or I'd agree with you 100%), and more that I'm suspecting that another security function on the firewall such as IPS, gateway antivirus, etc. Noncon21 This is a passive FTP setup (as most are), so setting up client-side firewall rules isn't necessary in most cases. We have a number of other clients replicating the same way to our Co-Lo and they aren't seeing the same issues, so I'm not suspecting the Co-Lo firewall. I am suspecting that the client-side firewall (TZ300) may be responsible for the connection interruption, but I don't want to rule out any of the other factors quite yet either. The client-side (StorageCraft ImageManager) also shows a disconnect, but doesn't appear to provide a log entry suggesting that it initiated the disconnect. Its logs show disconnects, but it doesn't seem to provide any log that suggests it is initiating the disconnect. No network outages appear to be occurring at the times of the interruptions. I have setup a logged ping monitor to watch for network outages between another system on the LAN, general internet connectivity (8.8.8.8), and the Co-Lo server that receives the images. The transfer re-attempts after a few minutes and picks up where it left off, but it gets interrupted frequently enough that the backups start falling behind for several days while it fights to get the larger files offsite. The FTPS upload works fine on the smaller files, but with these larger files, the connection keeps getting interrupted. Once in a while, the client throws a large amount of video files on one of their servers, and as a result, we get several larger than normal backup files (10+ GB). The client has a SonicWALL TZ300 and a 30x10 Mbps connection. I have a client that uses FTPS to send backups offsite to our Co-Lo.
